XI. Open Discussion
Barry Pruett started open discussion with a proposal to designate teams (for the Level 4 level only) at the State Meet. Due to the size of some of the Level 4 teams in the state, Barry proposed that each team picks 5 boys to represent their team at the State Meet in an attempt to balance the scales. After some discussion, the motion was made officially by Barry Pruett and Andy Franke 2nd it. Motion passed 10 yes/ 4 no
Chad Ford made a motion to change the "5 boys" to "6 boys". Motion died.
Chad Ford suggested that a state qualifying score should be established in order to give the boys something to shoot for. He stated that he believed that if a state qualifying score was set (even if it were low), then the boys that go to State and get nothing would be able to feel good since the made it to state. Barry Pruett said that he believed that if this was done, it will slow the growth of the program in the state.
Gene Watson suggested if a state qualifying score was not established, then the state could require each gymnast to have to participate in three in-state meets. This would apply to all levels. He noted that this would not only create a credentials for qualifying, but also help the meets in the state. After discussion, Gene made that motion changing the number of meets a gymnast has to attend to two. Barry Pruett 2nd. Passed with majority.
Andy Poe asked if anyone would be interested in participating in the AAU program. He is going to host an AAU State meet in his gym next year.
XII. Meeting was adjourned at 12:55 p.m.
